Hi, I'm Paula and I'm a self-professed garden geek. I started gardening fairly late in life in my early 20's. My first planting experience was a tiny patio garden in front of my apartment in which I planted pansies and a tomato plant. That first foray into gardening sparked an obsession that has spanned almost 20 years. I've learned a lot in that time. Mostly what I've learned is that no matter how much you know about gardening, there is always so much more to learn. And that's what keeps me coming back.

Currently, I work at Levi Runions Garden Center. I get plenty of Dirt Therapy there as well as get to experiment to my heart's content with container gardens. I also present workshops on different aspects of gardening including container design, perennials, annuals and succulents. I love my job! Playing with plants and talking about plants with other people who love plants is a good way to spend the day.

I am also trained as a Master Gardener (though I'm currently lapsed, hopefully that won't last too long!) and previously volunteered for two summers at the University of Minnesota Extension, Clay County on the Horticulture Hotline. What an experience! I learned a whole host of things I might not have otherwise just by researching the questions of callers in the local area.

I enjoy sharing my gardening experiences with novice and veteran gardeners alike. I learn as much from my customers as they hopefully learn from me. My main passion is container gardening and annuals but I also do perennial and vegetable gardening as well.

Check out the Pots and Pansies Blog for container recipes, new plant varieties, garden pictures, reviews on gardening supplies and more.

Often I'm asked why my business name is called "Pots and Pansies" when my garden experience is not limited to either. I chose pansies because they were my grandmother's favorite flower and I plant them every year in her memory (not to mention they were the first flower I chose to plant!). I also have a passion for container gardening and well, pots goes with pansies and it's kinda punny...thus, Pots and Pansies was born!
